這首 G 小調大提琴奏鳴曲是俄國知名作曲家和鋼琴家 Sergei Rachmaninoff (拉赫曼尼諾夫) 於 1901 年完成的作品，共分四個樂章，雖然身為鋼琴家的 Sergei Rachmaninoff 認為這首作品正確名稱應該是 Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano，不過，由於大提琴低迴優美的弦音明顯蓋過鋼琴琴鍵，所以後人習慣稱呼這首作品為 Cello Sonata in G Minor。


Lynn Harrell 是美國知名的大提琴家，作品細膩穩健，堪稱大提琴界的 Itzhak Perlman。
