德國的自律精神

在21世紀的現今，德國是政治.軍事.經濟强國，從小處到大處都可見他們不凡的一面，德國人民習慣安靜.習慣專心.習慣思考，才能在紛擾的環境中，找到值得體驗和欣賞的地方，這樣才能面對自己心底最深層的所在。小孩子從小被訓練，動腦思考動手解決，不是哭天搶地責怪別人。每個家庭都整理整潔外，社區也是美崙美煥的，這就是我好.你好.大家一起好的環境，從自律到自由每一處，我們有很多學習的面向。

日本也是如此! 舉凡現今世界上強盛的國家(不管是在政治, 經濟和文化方面), 其人民和民族性大都是有著和樓主所說的相同的特性, 也因為如此才能成為一個國力強盛的國家

反躬自省, 台灣無論在各方面距離這樣的層次實在還差得太遠太遠了, 但在台灣的社會常聽到的言論卻是, 台灣是個美麗的寶島, 台灣最美麗的風景是人, 台灣的夜市小吃世界聞名......等等類似的自我感覺良好, 自我催眠的論調. 其實這根本不需爭論, 只要出國一趟比較一下便能馬上看出高下優劣. 我想, 我們並不是看不到人家的優點, 而是喜歡集體自我催眠, 告訴自己台灣已經很好了, 所以沒有去學習別人優點的必要

當台灣人集體處於這種自我感覺良好的狀態下, 每天只聚焦在這個美麗的福爾摩沙發生了哪些芝麻小事, 台灣又怎麼會進步呢? 台灣又怎有可能成為一個先進的文明國家呢?

A few weeks ago, I was approaching the checkout line in a local supermarket, there was a lady approaching the line at the same time from another side, so I signed her to go ahead of me. It was a very common "thing" in the US.

She was so surprised for my move and told me that she was from Germany, she said: "...in Germany, everyone would be rushing to be first in line, not very many person would do 禮讓 like you just did..."

I did not 描述德國人, I silmply was telling what I was told, by a German. The story did not apply to all German citizens. It was only my personal experience, there was no way to 證實, and no need to be 證實 by anyone. You can choose to believe it, or not. Whatever you choose, it won't change the truth in it.

A small story like this does not reflect much at all, it is just a sparkling droplet in the river of life. It happened, and was gone forever; it won't change anyone's life nor makes me any more likeable.

驚訝? for what? not all Germans are alike, there are good Germans and there are not so good Germans. As there are good 台灣人s and there are not so good 台灣人s. 民族性 is too big a subject for me to discuss, here.

The moral of my story, if I must find one, was that we must not to 以概偏全, and we must all recall the story of "Blind men and an elephant" - "We have to remember that what we observe is not nature in itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning." - Werner Heisenberg.

BTW, Werner Heisenberg was a German theoretical physicist.
