Some members were asking information about shipping his/her own car back to Taiwan from the US, I thought I start a new thread here for everyone to share their valuable info on the How-To, and Do-Don't.

Here is a link: http://car2tw.com/ It is a commercial website, but I still post it because they do offer a lot of useful information, I personally did not pick them to ship my cars, yet.

Here is my two-cents:

One important note, some shipper will not allow household items in the shipping container with your vehicle, I am waiting for a quote from 松福, they will allow household items in the container with the car, that saves a lot on shipping costs. I am shipping back two (2) Honda S2000s, I am the original owner on both cars.

不知道您有評估過運車回來台灣的經濟效益嗎??

除了運費跟關稅外 據說比較麻煩的是ARTC驗車

如果您真的外匯進來了 也麻煩分享一下相關程序跟價格{:4_160:}

在這裡不免要抱怨一下台灣的車商

引進的款少就算了 價格又高得嚇死人

人家歐美日所得是我們的好幾倍 車價卻比不上我們台灣

台灣用進口關稅保護國產車 反而變成國產車賣進口價

然後配備又不齊全 只能說在台灣買車就像是待宰的肥羊啊...

自美東小型車運費要US$3000, 還得加上關稅和國內種種費用. 海運公司和很多朋友都說划不來, 除非是車子價值超過US$60,000.

The fair market value of a low mileage (2008, 2,500 miles) all original, like-new S2000 CR (which is a collector's model, HONDA had the CR only in 2008) is estimated at NT1,800,000. (its US blue-book value is around US$30,000). There are other factors as well.

自Houston小型車運費要US$2,500, 還得加上關稅US$3,500和國內種種費用US$8,000, total cost is estimated at US$16,000 after factors in other possible variable costs.

My total cost, therefore, is estimated at US$46,000 on the road in Taiwan. There are other S2000 in Taiwan, so there will not be a lot problems in passing the ARTC 驗車.

If I sold the car for US$50,000, not saying I would or the price will be so low, I still be in the positive side.

There were only 21 CR stripped model (no AC, no audio) in blue like mine was ever built, see the first line in the chart below. Total Production of the 2008 S2000 CR was limited, but those lucky enough to get one will join an exclusive club: The CR was available only in the U.S.

Total CR's without a/c and audio - 59
